Suggestion - Build Mono Version

Jeff_ (via http://www.arduino.cc/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1275852079/3#3) officially made this suggestion. Please vote on it if you would like to see this feature implemented as well. I will use the votes to prioritize future features.
"Hello, your work seems intersesting but as you choose to use visual studio, it's impossible for me and every one else on linux to try it. Could you consider to use mono to test it on linux in order to see what can be done to port it ?"

I have done some preliminary testing using the released version of the Rhyduino library built to target the Mono runtime on a Mac. Surprisingly, the code built without modification and seems to function as expected. I had to make changes to the client app that was using Rhyduino to communicate with the hardware, however, because Windows and Mac name their serial ports differently.

I don't want to take on the testing aspects related to maintaining two versions of the source (a Windows and a Linux) version, but I'm happy to take on the development aspects of it. In other words, if someone would like to take responsibility for testing of the code on non-Windows platforms, I'm happy to write the code that you test. Just let me know and I'll add you to the project. As a side-note, the nice folks over at Jetbrains are offering a free license to ReSharper version 5 to all members of this project.
